Our family has been mining opal in Coober Pedy for three generations, beginning in 1976. What started decades ago has been passed down through our family, along with the knowledge, persistence and passion that comes with searching for one of the rarest gemstones on Earth.

The opal you see at Watson Opals comes directly from the source. We spend our days working the ground, searching through material and uncovering opal ourselves here in Coober Pedy.

By selling our opal directly, we can offer collectors, jewellers and opal lovers the opportunity to buy closer to the source — with the story and origin behind each piece.
